Kolugljúfur

Gljúfur - Canyon

Below the farm Kolugil runs the river Víðidalsá down a rugged gorge is another kilometer long and 40-50 meters deep. The River reaches Kolugljúfur in two scenic waterfalls named Kolufossar and are named after the troll-woman Kola. A land formation in the western canyon, just off the bridge was the sleeping den of the troll Kola, called kolu-bed.

Nice walking trails are along the gorge on either side, however go with caution and not too close to the ravine.

A rock formation closes the way to the west so you can not make a full circle walk, have to go the same way back.
